LANGLEY, B.C. -- Colorado goaltender Dillon Ward made 41 saves and John Grant Jr. scored two goals and assisted on three others as the Mammoth edged the Vancouver Stealth 10-9 in National Lacrosse League action on Saturday. Sean Pollock had two goals and one assist, Matt McLeod and Casey Powell had a goal and three assists apiece, Joey Cupido scored once and helped on another, and Joel Dalgarno, Dean Hill and Dan Ball also scored for Colorado (4-5). Tyler Digby scored three goals and picked up an assist, Matt Beers scored twice and helped on one, Brett Bucktooth had a goal and an assist, and Curtis Hodgson, Ilija Gajic and Brett Hickey also scored for Vancouver (2-5). Stealth goalie Tyler Richards made 37 saves in the losing effort. De Aaron Fox Jersey . Sam, who joined the Cowboys in early September, has spent the entire season on the practice roster. Malachi Richardson Jersey . According to TSN Edmonton reporter Ryan Rishaug, agent Rick Valette met with Oilers senior VP of hockey operations Scott Howson and general manager Craig MacTavish on Monday to kick off the talks. http://www.nbakingsonline.com/Authentic-Vlade-Divac-Kings-Jersey/ .C. -- Panthers offensive tackle Jordan Gross is saying goodbye to the NFL after 11 seasons. Willie Cauley-Stein Jersey . The 23-year-old McNabb was an All-Star with the American Hockey Leagues Rochester Americans this season, posting seven goals and 22 assists in 38 games. In 12 games with the Sabres this season, McNabb has accumulated six penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating. He has scored one goal and seven assists in 37 career games with the Sabres, who originally selected him in the third round (66th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Oscar Robertson Jersey . Monta Ellis had 30 points and nine assists, Nowitzki was another of seven Dallas players in double figures with 11 points and the Mavericks beat the Los Angeles Lakers 123-104 Tuesday night. REGINA -- If Kerry Josephs playing career is in fact over, hell have many highlights to look back on -- the end of a 4-14 season among them. Joseph, in his 11th year as a CFL quarterback, played the final 10 minutes Saturday as the Edmonton Eskimos ended their season with a 30-26 win over Josephs former team, the Saskatchewan Roughriders. "I can say if I dont ever put the uniform on again or lace another cleat up I won my last game," he said, his voice cracking and eyes moist. "Not everybody can say that. It wasnt a championship game but I can say I won my last one. And its a lot of emotion." Joseph finished two-for-three passing for 29 yards. He acknowledged that his time in Edmonton as a player is "probably" over, and it had been widely speculated in the lead-up to the game that it would be his last in the CFL. Joseph added that he will continue looking for opportunities to play over the next month but that he feels he has a lot to offer as a coach too if he decides to retire. The last time Joseph wore a Roughriders uniform he was celebrating a win in the 2007 Grey Cup. In the aftermath of Saturdays game, he was pondering the possibility of history repeating itself. "This fanbase has been another home to me," said Joseph, who played two seasons for the Riders before unexpectedly being traded to Toronto before the 2008 season and eventually moving on to Edmonton. "Theyve been great to me all the way back to 2006 and from the time I first walked on the field here. "This could be fitting to come back here." The turning point for the Eskimos came when Jamal Miles returned a punt 79 yards for a touchdown with barely a minute to play. Saskatchewan punter Ricky Schmitts kick drove Edmonton back to its own 31-yard line but Miles found a seam and sprinted down the sideline for the winning score. On the Roughriders previous drive, they were stuffed four times on first-and-goal and opted to settle for a field goal instead of trying once more for the end zone. Edmonton (4-14) ended a difficult regular season by sending the Roughriders (11-7) into the playoffs on a two-game losing streak with the win. The defeat also cost Saskatchewan its first 12-win season since 2008 as the Riders prepare to host the B.C. Lions in the CFLs West Division semifinal. For Edmonton the win meant little more than avoiding a new benchmark for the second-worst season in franchise history. "Its real hard to keep the guys hungry when you know what you already have next week," said Riders head coach Corey Chamblin. "I hate to use the word meaningless because its not ... but in total it was pretty hard to get the guys in the mindset of Hey, lets go do all-out." With both teams resting a number of starters, the game featured another characteristically slow start from the Roughriders, who trailed 10-0 before Chris Milo kicked a 23-yard field goal near the end of the first quarter. Edmonton raced out to thee early lead on a 25-yard field goal from Grant Shaw and a 56-yard interception return from middle linebacker Rennie Curran.dddddddddddd Currans pick was the first of the year thrown by Saskatchewan quarterback Drew Willy, who started his second game of 2013 in place of starter Darian Durant. Willy was looking for Weston Dressler on a crossing route over the middle and threw the ball straight into the hands of Curran, who was cutting the other way. Saskatchewan tied the game at 10 late in the second quarter on a six-yard TD pass from Willy to Eron Riley, who started the game in place of injured slotback Chris Getzlaf. A 40-yard field goal from Shaw made it 13-10 Edmonton at the half. Willy left the game at halftime 15-of-22 passing for 157 yards, giving way to third-stringer Tino Sunseri for the second half. Sunseri finished the game 14 of 18 for 167 yards. Milo made it 13-13 on an 11-yard field goal in the third quarter and Shaw replied with a 25-yarder of his own to restore Edmontons three-point lead. The Roughriders took their first lead of the game after Craig Butler picked Edmonton backup QB Jonathan Crompton and returned the ball to the Eskimos 28-yard line. Sunseri threw a 20-yard pass to Rob Bagg and Chris Garrett, who started at tailback in place of Kory Sheets, ran eight yards on the next play for the score. Crompton returned fire on the next drive, culminating in a 12-yard TD throw to John White and a 23-20 lead. Milo maintained his perfect performance with field goals of 22 and eight yards in the final quarter but it wasnt enough. The Eskimos started the game with Mike Reilly at quarterback. He was replaced early in the third quarter by Crompton, who then gave way to Joseph for the home stretch. "Just his leadership and his faith has been huge for me to look up to," Eskimos receiver Nate Coehoorn said of Joseph. "Just the way he handles himself as a pro, hes just a rock. Hes just that guy in meetings you can always ask a question. Hes almost like a player-coach ... he knows everything." Reilly finished the game 5 of 12 for 50 yards. Crompton was two of four for 33 yards. A small consolation to the Riders came with 13 seconds to go when Taj Smith caught a nine-yard pass from Sunseri, putting him over 1,000 yards receiving for the season and making 2013 the first year since 1993 that Saskatchewan has had three 1,000 yard receivers in a season. Dressler and Getzlaf had reached that milestone earlier this year. Saskatchewan meets B.C. Sunday with the winner advancing to face Calgary in the West Division final. "Its a brand new season," said Chamblin. "The only thing that matters to me is every game I expect that were going to be able to win, regardless of whos healthy. "Like I told the guys there are some good things that we did this season. This team is greatly improved from last year in a number of areas and things that weve done. I think thats what we have to look at."   TSNs Chris Schultz is back with his pick
Gönderen: Bellroll33 - 05-23-2019, 10:05 AM - Forum: Makaleler - Cevap Yok

After going 2-2 in his Wild Card selections, TSNs Chris Schultz is back with his picks for the Divisional Round. Baltimore at New England (-7) As good as New England is, and they are good, I would be surprised if this was not a very competitive game. It is true that the Ravens have no fear of the Patriots and it is true that the Ravens are suspect in the secondary and offensive line, but against Pittsburgh with all that talent, both areas held up reasonably well. Three factors here as I see it. One being Joe Flacco, who in his last five playoffs games has 13 touchdown passes and no interceptions. Flacco seems to me to be bored with pro football. His regular season performances and playoff performances are different. When the playoffs begin he picks his game with ease and history say that come Saturday afternoon he will be at his best. Defensively, Baltimore is powerful up front. They can play both safeties deep and force New England into a game of patience giving up small plays of success but never big plays determining games. So on both sides of the ball, the Ravens match up well. An absolute key in this game will be what the referees judgment calls will be on pass interference. Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner are exceptional cornerbacks but do use jamming techniques all game and could give up a big play depending on judgment. We all saw the reality of that in Dallas last week. Tory Smith and Steve Smith are pretty experienced receivers and smaller quicker receivers which are harder to jam and keep on the line of scrimmage. I definitely can see New England gaining an early lead but can also see Baltimore not being intimidated by that lead and making it a game in the second half. This is a classic example of a battle-tested Raven team and a well-rested Patriot team playing until last possession. Patriots win but it will not be easy. Ravens. Carolina at Seattle (-10.5) I like Seattle. Carolina has won five straight games but not one of the five were over teams of extreme present success. Last week, Carolina took advantage of quarterback inexperience and won. If Carson Palmer played in last weeks Arizona game, I think Arizona would have won. A team of extreme in the present success is Seattle. In five of their last six wins they have held an opponent to six points or less. Defense is more about energy than execution and Seattle will have the energy advantage. Yes, history does say this will be close, but in the Week 8 game last year, Seattle self-imploded more than Carolina created the implosion. Final score was 13 -9 but could have been 23-9 easily. Seattle is 24-2 at home over the last three years. I say they make it 25 in a big way. Seahawks cover. Dallas at Green Bay (-6) There are two things the Dallas Cowboys do exceptionally well. First is winning time of possession. On average this year its almost 34 minutes per game and if they can keep Aaron Rogers off the field a series or two, they can beat Green Bay. The others aspect is defensive takeaways. Thirty-one times last year they took the ball away from an opponent -- three against Detroit. It is a skill, not luck. But Green Bay does not give the ball away. Only 13 times this year have they expressed football generosity; the lowest in the NFL. The Cowboys offensive line did not have a good game against Detroits run blocking or pass blocking in stunts, fronts blitzes or recognition. I cant see it two games in a row. Dallas. Indianapolis at Denver (-6) Can Andrew Luck do it again? There is no other team in this years NFL playoffs that is more quarterback perfect dependent than the Colts with Andrew Luck? Against the Bengals, the Colts ran the ball nine times and passed the ball 41 times by the end of the third quarter of play. Yes, many were key read progressive check downs but there is no balance in the Colts offense. Cincinnati lost to Indianapolis because Andy Dalton is not elite and they were without their top tight end Jermaine Gresham and wide receiver AJ Green. Rex Burkhead was the surprise first quarter performer. The Broncos will not have to depend on a Rex Burkhead on their roster. Yes, Payton Manning will be his ever prepared best for this game but as a quarterback closer to 40 than 30, that physical rest means a more refreshed throwing motion too. Just like a baseball pitcher in rotation, quarterbacks need to regenerate their arm too. Bottom line for me is Denver has a better chance to win time-of-possession and keep Luck off the field than the Colts can and keep Manning off the field. Denver. Albert Pujols Jersey . - Whether its because of her improved play or the reason for it, Michelle Wie appears as comfortable on and off the golf course as at any time in her career. Justin Upton Jersey . Marc-Andre Fleury made 27 saves to backstop the Penguins to a 2-1 victory over the Flames, handing Calgary its team record sixth consecutive home regulation loss. http://www.baseballangelslockroom.com/darin-erstad-angels-jersey/ . Scrivens stopped 48 shots and captain Andrew Ference scored in overtime as the Oilers pulled off a 4-3 upset of the Anaheim Ducks on Friday. Zack Cozart Jersey .C. -- Martin Kaymer set a U. Custom Los Angeles Angels Jerseys . Cruz set the tone with a two-run homer in the first inning, and Baltimore scored eight times in the eighth to pull away for a 12-3 victory in Game 1. The major league leader with 40 homers during the regular season, Cruz added an RBI single to his early blast off Max Scherzer.SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Texas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus is dealing with soreness in his right forearm and will be sidelined for at least a few days. Assistant general manager Thad Levine said Saturday that Andrus has flexor tendinitis in his throwing arm. The team believes the issue stemmed from being overworked early in camp, and hope a few days off will allow him a chance to recoveer.dddddddddddd The team provided no exact timetable on when he might start throwing again. Andrus didnt play winter ball for the first time in his career, and he knew it might take a little longer to get ready this spring. The 25-year-old Andrus is going into his sixth season in the majors. He has played 757 games for the Rangers, 315 more than any current Texas player. RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired veteran defenceman Tim Gleason from the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday in exchange for defenceman John-Michael Liles. The Hurricanes also received the rights to Brown University defenceman Dennis Robertson in the trade announced during the Maple Leafs game against Detroit in the Winter Classic. The 30-year-old Gleason was the Hurricanes most physical forward and one of the longest-tenured players on the team. Only captain Eric Staal and 2006 Conn Smythe Trophy-winning goalie Cam Ward have been with the franchise longer. The 33-year-old Liles had 15 hits and averaged 17 minutes of ice time in six games this season with the Maple Leafs. He was scratched from the Winter Classic. "John Liles was an excellent person for us and an excellent player," Toronto coach Randy Carlyle said. "He backed what we were trying to do and he was one of our leaders and it was a hard thing to do. An unfortunate situation where we couldnt get him ice time. Young guys like Morgan Reilly pushed him out the door. It was an unfortunate situation." Carolina general manager Jim Rutherford says Liles is a puck-mover who "can make a difference offensively" from the blue line. The Hurricanes acquired Gleason in a trade with Los Angeles in September 2006, three months after they won their only Stanley Cup. He missed 21 games this season due to injury, including the first 10 with a concussion, and had one assist while playing at a minus-7 rating with 10 penalty minutes. Gleason played in 491 career games with the Hurricanes -- the third-highest total of any defenceman since the club moved from Hartford in 1997 -- and his 495 penalty minutes are the most of any Carolina defenceman since the move. He was a healthy scratch for Tuesday nights overtime win against Montreal that snapped a five-game losing streak. The Hurricanes are sixth in the Metropolitan Division, 20 points behind division leader Pittsburgh and three behind the New York Rangers. Gleason played for the silver-medal-winning United States team at the 2010 Winter Olympics, and twice in the past three years his teammates selected him as the clubs Steve Chiasson Award winner for determination and dedication. Hes under contract through the 2015-16 season, having signed a four-year extension in July 2012 that will pay him $4.5 million both this season and next, and $3.5 million in the final year of the deal. Liles also is under contract through 2015-16 at an average of $3.875 million per year. Its the second trade of the week for Carolina, which sent forward Kevin Westgarth to Calgary on Monday in exchange for minor league forward Greg Nemisz. The Hurricanes also picked up the rights to the 22-year-old Robertson, who has three goals and five assists during his senior season at Brown. Green Bay Packers Jerseys .   chance to reclaim first place in the NL East,
Gönderen: Bellroll33 - 05-23-2019, 09:57 AM - Forum: Makaleler - Cevap Yok

WASHINGTON -- In extra innings, with a chance to reclaim first place in the NL East, Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez gave two pitchers their major league debuts. Welcome to the big time, Juan Jaime and Ryan Buchter. "Perfect scenario to bring em in," Gonzalez said with a smile. "Those are big innings. We always talk when we bring em up, How are you going to use them? Whats the situation? Well, today was an extra-inning game against your division rival. Youre going to have to use them sooner or later." Jaime pitched a scoreless 11th inning and Buchter handled the 12th. Each allowed a walk but no further damage, and Buchter (1-0) got the win when the Braves scored a pair in the 13th Friday in a 6-4 victory over the Washington Nationals that flip-flopped the standings atop the NL East. "Youve got to test it out sometime, you know," said Buchter, with the game ball safely nestled in his glove in his locker. "Its a good chance to get experience." The win moved the Braves back into first place by one-half game and maintained their mastery over their division rivals. Atlanta was struggling before arriving in D.C. this week, but the club is 20-7 vs. Washington since the start of last season, including the first two of this four-game set. Evan Gattis, who earlier extended his hitting streak to 19 games, singled in the go-ahead run in the 13th off Jerry Blevins (2-3). Andrelton Simmons followed with an RBI groundout that might have been an inning-ending double play had second baseman Danny Espinosa not bobbled the ball. Jordan Walden worked the 13th for his second save, long after Craig Kimbrel blew a save for the fourth time this season. With the Nationals down to their last out in the ninth, Anthony Rendon tied the score when he got every bit of a 98 mph fastball from Kimbrel, the first homer allowed by the Braves closer in 2014. The umpires initially ruled Rendons hit a double, but a replay review clearly showed the ball striking the top of the barrier next to the visitors bullpen beyond the outfield fence. "This game changes on one swing sometimes," Washington manager Matt Williams said. "That couldve been the one swing, but it turns it out it wasnt. So we have to be ready to go tomorrow and put this one behind us like we always do. We got two more against these guys and a whole bunch of games left. We have to have short memories." Until Rendons homer, the Braves were poised to celebrate another nine-inning edition of continued dominance of the Nationals, this time by two-striking Stephen Strasburg into submission while riding Mike Minors 11 strikeouts. The Braves got nine hits against Strasburg, and six came with a pair of strikes, including every run-producing play: Freddie Freemans first-inning home run, Simmons fourth-inning RBI single and Jason Heywards two-run double in the fifth. That was plenty of support as long as Minor was in the game. He allowed two runs and seven hits over seven innings, and his 11 strikeouts were one short of a career high. Minor had given up 11 runs and 22 hits over nine innings in his previous two starts. The Braves fouled pitches and worked the count so successfully that Strasburg had thrown 107 pitches by the time he was pulled after six innings, even though he didnt walk a batter. He allowed nine hits -- tying a career high -- and struck out eight. Minor, by contrast, was able to finish off the Nationals batters. He gave up Ian Desmonds mammoth homer in the second inning -- the ball landed only a row or two from the cherry trees behind the left-field bleachers -- and Denard Spans RBI triple in the seventh. Minors performance nearly got him his first win since May 19. "Ninety-nine per cent of the time," Gonzalez said, "he gets a W there." Braves RHP Gavin Floyd was placed on the 15-day disabled list, one day after breaking a bone in his throwing elbow in the seventh inning of Thursdays win.   led promotion to the Scottish Premiership, but
Gönderen: Bellroll33 - 05-23-2019, 09:54 AM - Forum: Makaleler - Cevap Yok

Mark Warburton is delighted to have sealed promotion to the Scottish Premiership, but the Rangers manager insists the job is far from over. The Light Blues secured the Championship title with a 1-0 win over Dumbarton on Tuesday, thanks to right-back James Taverniers 13th goal of the season. It ended four years of lower-league football for the club, following their demotion to the Third Division after financial collapse during the 2011-12 season. The result meant that Rangers completed their seasons objective of a top-tier return in Warburtons first year in charge.Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports News HQ, the Rangers boss says that the job is not yet complete, as he looks to make an impact next season. Rangers Andy Halliday celebrates with the fans at full-time after winning the Championship title Promotion was a must - a club like this, a club of this stature has to be back in the top tier. We didnt want to limp over the line, I wanted to do it in style to gain momentum for the start of next season, said the former city trader. Its very, very pleasing to get the job done and we can now move on from here. Its important that we keep the momentum going for next season, because theres no point in thinking thats it, and the job is done.Work [for next season] started a number of weeks ago. Weve had meetings and targets have been highlighted. If we get the recruitment right, then we will be in a good place. Its important that we keep the momentum going for next season, because theres no point in thinking thats it, and the job is done. Mark Warburton, Rangers manager Rangers have already been installed as the bookmakers second-favourites to win the Premiership title next season, behind rivals Celtic who are odds-on.And former Brentford manager Warburton believes meeting those expectations is a must next season. It just sharpens the focus. I was told on my second day here that if we played Barcelona at Ibrox tomorrow, the fans might accept a draw, but would probably accept a win. Thats the expectation of the crowd here - we have to respect it, understand it and appreciate it. The players have to relish that responsibility and focus on the job at hand. If we can have more highs than lows, well be okay. Before Warburton can think of the next campaign, he has to focus on Sundays Petrofac Training Cup final against Peterhead, followed by the Scottish Cup semi-final clash with Celtic. Warburton (left) and former Rangers captain David Weir have led Rangers to Scottish Championship success Its important to enjoy the good moments, but we must remember that we have a very important cup final at a packed Hampden on Sunday. Then weve got a week to prepare for Celtic. So theres no problem of focus for the rest of the season - we just need to make sure we are well prepared - these are two very big games. Got a question on rule clarification, comments on rule enforcements or some memorable NHL stories? Kerry wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn.ca. Good morning Kerry, I love your daily clarifications to help everyone understand better why some calls are made! My question is in regards of spearing. As you know by now, Milan Lucic speared Alexei Emelin in Game 3 - again! I understand that at times some calls be overlooked, but why is he continuously getting away with it? If there is video evidence, why nothing is done afterward to avoid any precedence to be set? My last question: is this not making the officials in a difficult position? Thank you very much for your time. Lyne Laurendeau Lyne: The act of spearing and butt-ending seldom result in a player suspension. Instead, a fine may be imposed (but not always as we have seen) by the Player Safety Committee. It would appear that players are utilizing both ends of their hockey stick on a more consistent basis in violation of rule 58 (butt-ending) and rule 62 (spearing). This season the following fines have been levied for these illegal acts: February 6, 2014: Alexei Emelin - Montreal Canadiens - Butt-ending Pascal Pelletier ($5,000)March 20, 2014: David Legwand - Detroit Red Wings - Butt-ending Evgeni Malkin ($5,000)April 13, 2014: Scott Hartnell - Philadelphia Flyers - Spearing Brett Bellemore ($5,000)April 18, 2014: Milan Lucic - Boston Bruins -Spearing Danny DeKeyser ($5,000)April 25, 2014: Ryan Garbutt - Dallas Stars - Spearing Corey Perry ($1,474.36) You also might recall in the Ducks-Stars series on April 18th that Corey Perry was given a "slashing" minor when he "speared" Jamie Benn at 7:25 of the first period. Perry remained in the game as a result the "slashing" assessment and then scored an unassisted goal at 16:15 of the second in a 3-2 Anaheim win. Milan Lucic was also guilty of an undetected backdoor spear motion on Alexei Emelin in a game March 24. Neither of these incidents resulted in a fine. Beyond the non-call in the Bruins-Habs game the other night, no disciplinary action or fine will result from Lucics latest spear on Emelin. It should also be noted that Emelin was guilty of cross-checking on the play and was not penalized for the infraction as well. Fouls can be missed in the fast pace of the game. There is obvious reluctance on the part of the referees to call "spearing" for what it is due to the severity of the penalty that they must impose under the rule. Only when contact is significant, as in the Ryan Garbutt spear on Corry Perry, will we see the accurate call made. Perrys action on Jamie Benn was no less a spearing motion than Garbutts, but due to lesser degree of contact (deemed to be minimal by the ref) the infraction was called slashing. It is not the referees job to interpret the relative value of the rule or base their assessment on the degree of contact (or non contact) when a spearing motion is delivered. That however is exactly what is being done. Under rule 62, the referee is empowered (and expected) to assess a double minor is imposed when a player spears an opponent and does not make contact. A major and game misconduct is to be assessed on a player who spears an opponent (makes contact). When I attended my first NHL training camp for officials as a 20-year-old aspiring referee in 1972 we went through every rule in the book during daily classroom sessions. The rule book wasnt all that thick back then and the referee had the option of assessing a minor or major penalty for spearing based on the degree of contact. Wanting to understand the difference between the two applications I approached veteran referee Lloyd Gilmour for advice. I asked Gilmour what constituted the difference between a minor or major penalty for spearing. Without so much as a wink, Lloyd said, "Kid, if you see the spear go in its two minutes; if the stick comes out the players back call it five!" Perhaps the veteran advice was a little tongue-in- cheek but in reality not all that far off from the application we might be seeing now. Lyne, it is my opinion that there should be a fine imposed for every instance of spearing and butt-ending; regardless of the degree of contact or whether a penalty was imposed by the referee. Both are dangerous and cheap acts. Further to this, the referees must be directed to call the action of spearing and butt-ending for what they are and not place their personal value on the degree of contact made with the point or end of a players stick. It is the referees that are putting themselves in a "difficult position" by either ignoring the infraction or calling it by any other terminology than what it is. Penalty enforcement and fines would result in higher standards of player accountability and act as a stronger deterrent against these unwanted acts from being committed. Sam Hubbard Bengals Jersey . Wins like Friday night will help erase those questions. Casey McGehee singled home the winning run with one out in the ninth inning to atone for a costly error and help the Marlins earn a rare road win, 7-5 over the San Francisco Giants. "I think were still trying to figure it out," Redmond said. "If I had an answer to why were so much better at home to on the road, wed fix it, right? But these guys keep battling. They keep fighting. You saw that tonight. We dont quit. We keep grinding. We might make a few mistakes, but we keep going." The Marlins made plenty of mistakes. They also made some big plays, too. Derek Dietrich and Christian Yelich homered, and Jarrod Saltalamacchia snapped an 0-for-26 skid by tying his career high with four singles to stop Miamis slide. The Marlins entered the game losers of six of their past seven games and a majors-worst 4-16 record away from home. They also are a league-best 17-5 at home. "Weve seen those games go the other way sometimes, especially on the road right now. It was huge for us to be able to stick in there and get that one," McGehee said. Santiago Casilla (1-1) got out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth, but couldnt escape trouble in the ninth. The right-hander allowed two baserunners before McGehees tiebreaking grounder to right field. "It just had eyes and got through the infield," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "Thats the way the game goes." Garrett Jones added an RBI single off lefty Javier Lopez and made a leaping catch in the netting of the photographers pit in foul territory in the bottom of the ninth. Mike Dunn (4-3) pitched a scoreless eighth, and Steve Cishek converted his eighth save for Miami. Neither starter pitched well but did just enough to give his team a chance in the final innings. Henderson Alvarez allowed five runs — four earned — and 10 hits in six innings for the Marlins. He struck out four and walked none. Giantts right-hander Yusmeiro Petit, filling in while Tim Hudson rested his nagging hip, gave up five runs — four earned — on seven hits in five innings.dddddddddddd He struck out five and walked none. "I lost a little bit of my command in the first inning. I tried to stay close in the game," Petit said. After wasting a 4-1 lead in a loss Thursday night to San Francisco, Miami moved ahead 4-1 again but rallied back late this time. The Giants had three RBI hits with two outs, including pinch-hitter Gregor Blancos bloop single in the sixth that tied it at 5-all. Blancos hit came after McGehee couldnt corral a grounder at third. "I still feel terrible. Alvarez battled through and it wouldve been nice to get him the win," McGehee said. Defence — or a lack thereof — proved pivotal in the late innings. Redmond successfully challenged a transfer rule call in the fifth. After a replay review, umpires ruled Marlins right fielder Giancarlo Stanton caught Hunter Pences fly in the web of his glove and dropped the ball trying to transfer it to his hand for a throw. Buster Poseys flyout to right later scored Angel Pagan, who had advanced to third on Stantons botched transfer. Stanton made up for the play with an outstretched catch of Michael Morses fly near the wall in the eighth. Pagan also made a spectacular over-the-head catch on Dietrichs deep fly for the first out of the seventh and held on after running into the padded wall in left-centre. And Casilla got pinch-hitter Ed Lucas to ground into a double play with the bases loaded to end the eighth. NOTES: It was the fifth time Saltalamacchia had four hits in a game. ... Stantons career-high 17-game hitting streak ended after going 0 for 5. ... Saltalamacchia has agreed to a $21 million, three-year deal with the Miami Marlins, two people familiar with the negotiations said Tuesday.PHILADELPHIA - Five minutes after Kyle Lowry recorded his fourth career triple-double, and second as a member of the Raptors, he was back in the locker room glued to his phone, streaming the Knicks game. At the time, Carmelo Anthony was at the tail end of a career and Knicks franchise-record setting performance in New York. Melo had 60 points and counting, as Lowry watched in amazement. "They just took him out," he told an enquiring DeMar DeRozan, putting down his phone to speak with the media following his own remarkable showing. No, Lowry didnt score 62 points - Anthonys final point total - but he too was coming off a game hell remember for the rest of his professional career, and beyond. "Its always special to play here," said the Philadelphia-native, who put up 18 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists in front of over 50 friends and family members in Torontos 104-95 victory over the 76ers. And his triple-double? "As long as its with a win, its a great feat." The win didnt come easy. Toronto got off to a quick start before coughing up an early 13-point lead to the last place 76ers. The Raptors trailed by one at the break and exchanged buckets with a tenacious Philadelphia team during the third quarter. Down one with a minute remaining in the third, Lowry drained a short jumper to give his team the lead, adding a step-back 18-footer prior to the buzzer. Half of section 123 - five or six rows of Lowry supporters - was on their feet as the quarter came to an end. The Raptors never relinquished their lead from there. "Always, coming here and winning the game is most important," said the Raptors point guard. "Even if I play terrible, if we win the game and I give my family something to cheer for Im happy." How big was his own personal cheering section? "50-something [people], a small amount," he said with a smirk. Following Friday morning shoot around, Lowry - having spent the previous night back at home - spoke about staying professional and blocking out the natural distraction of being in a familiar setting. He got his ticket requests in Thursday evening and by 5:00, two hours before tip-off, he insisted his phone would be turned off. "Its always special to be able to haave them sit behind you and cheer for you and cheer for the team," he said.dddddddddddd "Its definitely different but Im still a professional, Ive got to do my job, Ive got to help my team win." 48 hours earlier, Lowry missed all 10 of his field goal attempts as he batted the flu, running back-and-forth from the restroom in Wednesdays victory over Dallas. DeRozan picked up the slack for his ailing comrade, scoring a career-best 40 points. Theyve become something of a tag team. On Friday, with Lowry back to full health after some home cooking, both guards were tremendous. "Thats what he do, man," said DeRozan, who had 34 points of his own, including 16 in the fourth and 13 from the free throw line. "He puts us all in great positions to score. He rebounds, he pushes the ball, he does it all when hes out there on the court. You cant ask for another point guard like that who can do all those things." Lowry and DeRozan, are both awaiting their All-Star fate. The leagues coaches will vote in the reserves - they have until the weekend to submit their ballots - and Torontos backcourt duo is making one final, eye catching push. "Hes an All-Star," DeRozan said of Lowry. "Hes an All-Star," Lowry said of DeRozan. "Theyre both All-Stars," said Amir Johnson. Theyll find out on Thursday, but for now theyre both relieved to be winning once again. After dropping three of four last week the Raptors have been victorious in two straight ahead of a daunting matchup with the Clippers in the second night of a back-to-back Saturday and a crucial showdown with the suddenly red-hot, division rival Nets Monday. "I dont think we ever lost it," DeRozan said with confidence. "We understand we cant win every game. There are going to be games we wish we should have win but it might just not be our night. We understand that. We just have to stay positive when we lose a game, understand we have to learn from our mistakes and keep going." Meanwhile, DeRozan - making his All-Star bid - has scored 74 points in two games, shooting 11-for-16 in the fourth quarter during that stretch. Not bad right? "Melo had 62 [tonight]," he said.   New Jersey Devils got to the shootout aga
Gönderen: Bellroll33 - 05-23-2019, 09:36 AM - Forum: Makaleler - Cevap Yok

NEWARK, N.J. -- Once Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils got to the shootout against the New York Islanders they were doomed. That is the way this season has gone, and it didnt matter that Brodeur was looking for a win in what might have been his final start after 20 seasons with the Devils. New Jersey just cant win in shootouts. The Devils lost their 13th this season and extended their NHL record for shootout ineptitude to 17 straight over the past two seasons, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Islanders on Friday night. "Almost comical," Devils goal scorer Ryan Carter said of the shootout woes. The Islanders were impressive in the shootout with Frans Nielsen, Josh Bailey and Ryan Strome scoring. Bailey and Strome had highlight goals, doing it with 360 spin-a-rama moves. Devils coach Pete DeBoer said after the game that he wants to play the soon-to-be 42 year-old Brodeur in the season finale against Boston at home on Sunday, but he will talk with the goalie before making a final decision. Brodeur was matter-of-fact about playing. "Every time I play could be my last game," Brodeur said. "Thats the way I kind of approach it. I wasnt sure I was going to play today, either. I was able to play and felt pretty good." Brodeur, the NHL career leader in wins (687) and shutouts (124), is in the last season of his contract. He won three Stanley Cup titles with the Devils. Cory Schneider is in line to be the Devils No. 1 goalie of the future. "It doesnt matter," Brodeur said. "The last game is the last game. Im going to reflect on having an unbelievable career in New Jersey regardless if I decide to stay . or I decide to go do something else. "For me, its not about my last performance. Its about what I accomplished in the whole." Carter and Patrik Elias scored for the Devils. Anders Lee and Strome had regulation goals for the Islanders in a matchup of teams that failed to make the playoffs this season. The Islanders put on a show in the shootout against Brodeur, who made 28 saves through overtime. Nielsen snapped a shot past Brodeur on New Yorks first try, and Damien Brunner tied it 1-1 with a shot high into the net against Anders Nilsson, who had 25 saves. "I was kind of guessing (Brodeur) was guessing a little bit," Nielsen said. ") just shot it quick." Bailey and Strome then dazzled the crowd, skating in on Brodeur, doing full turns in front of him and beating him with backhand shots. Jaromir Jagr lost the puck on the Devils second attempt, giving New York the win. The Islanders had tied it 2-2 with a power-play goal by Strome 19 seconds into the third period. Nielsen found Strome coming down the right side for a shot into the top corner that gave him his seventh goal of the season. The rest of the period belonged to the goalies. Brodeur stopped Casey Cizikas on a breakaway, and the four-time Vezina Trophy winner made a snapping glove save on Colin McDonald. Nilsson stopped a breakaway by Jagr, a rebound attempt by Dainius Zubrus, and a late chance on a wrist shot by Jagr. The opening minutes of overtime were just as exciting with Nilsson withstanding four Devils whacking at a loose puck in the crease. When the Islanders eventually cleared it, Brock Nelson got a breakaway, only to be stopped by Brodeur. New York had all four shots in the extra five minutes, thanks in part to a power play. Limited to a shot in the opening 10 minutes of the game, the Islanders grabbed the lead on their second shot. Nielsen poked the puck off the stick of Jagr, and Lee got the puck at centre ice. The rookie skated into the Devils zone and beat Brodeur to the corner at 10:04. New Jersey needed less than a minute to tie it with a goal from the fourth line. Stephen Gionta sent the puck behind the Islanders net. Steve Bernier threw a pass out front, and Carter got inside defenceman Kevin Czuczman for a slam dunk on Nilsson. Elias put New Jersey ahead 2-1 with 9 seconds left in the first period, taking a pass from Travis Zajac and beating Nilsson with a snap shot from between the circles. NOTES: Television analyst Glenn "Chico" Resch announced he is retiring from the Devils broadcast booth after 18 years. The 65-year-old Resch, an original Devils goalie, revealed his decision during the first intermission. ... The Islanders will finish the season at Buffalo on Sunday. Hunter Pence Jersey . Karanka looked set to be leaving the Riverside Stadium at the weekend Asked by Sky Sports Jonathan Oakes if he had told the players he did not want to manage them anymore as per the rumours, Karanka said: They knew my position, and this is maybe one of the things that hurts me a lot. When I heard that there were problems with the changing room, when I have been here for two-and-a-half years and they have given me everything. When I came here we were fighting in the relegation positions, and now we are near the top of the table. Middlesbrough are looking to return to the top flight after a seven-year absence That change is because we have an amazing relationship. So it was more difficult for me to hear, because we were fighting together, and it was difficult for me especially when it is not true.ddddddddddddKaranka held a meeting with his players and staff on Tuesday to thrash out the way forward after chairman Steve Gibson had moved to find a solution and refocus attention on the clubs bid for a return to the Premier League after a seven-year absence. The Spaniard told Sky Sports that himself and Gibson didnt need to agree something because there was never a disagreement, but admits the past week caused concern within his family. Middlesbrough sit third in the Championship, a point behind the automatic promotion spots with a game in hand I cant deny every single rumour, Karanka said. Sometimes I wanted to cry, sometimes I wanted to laugh. The worst thing was that my family in Spain were hearing a lot of things and sometimes they called me and were concerned because they read things, heard that something wasnt good for me.There were moments in these two days where my family called me. Those were the worst moments for me because if I would have liked to leave today or after the game on Sunday I had more chances to leave, because the team lost the game, so I never wanted to leave. ARLINGTON, Texas -- Athletics right-hander A.J. Griffin is scheduled to have elbow surgery Wednesday, and will miss the entire season with fellow third-year starter Jarrod Parker. "We were hoping that wasnt going to be the case," Oakland manager Bob Melvin said before Tuesdays game in Texas. "Losing two guys like that for the entire season is a difficult blow. Ones a blow, two is tough. You move on, but you certainly have a lot of sympathy for the two guys that are having to go through that, because theyve meant so much to this team over the last couple of years." Parker, who had been expected to be Oaklands opening day starter, had Tommy John surgery on his right elbow during spring training. Griffin will have the surgery after getting a second opinion Tuesday from Dr. Thomas Mehlhoff in Houston. Melvin said he didnt know the specifics of the surgery Griffin will have or how extensive it would be. He had spoken only briefly to Griffin. "Hes always pretty happy-go-lucky, in good spirits," Melvin said. "I think the fact that hes having it done this early gives him a light at the end of the tunnel to pitch next season. The longer that goes on, the more difficult it is to come back and get semi-close to a full season. Hes looking at it very positively." Parker and Griffin combined for 26 victories last season. Griffin was 14-10 with a 3.83 ERA last season after making his major league debut in 2012 going 7-1 with a 3.06 ERA in 15 starts for the As. Parker went 13-8 in 2012, and was 12-8 last season.
